First-Ever Chair of the Board: Santarvis Brown, Ed.D., J.D.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MARCH 16, 2023

Rdevia announces Santarvis Brown, Ed.D., J.D., will assume the role of General Visitor effective June 1, 2023. As General Visitor, Dr. Brown, will become Chair of the Board for a 4-year term. Dr. Brown is assuming this role after faithfully serving Rdevia as the first-ever Senior Visitor/Co-Chair of the Board. As the Senior Visitor, Dr. Brown was instrumental in raising awareness and support for the Organization through fostering relationships with other community leaders and groups. In continuing his legacy as a trailblazer, Dr. Brown will be the first-ever General Visitor/Chair of the Board.


Santarvis Brown, Ed.D., J.D.


Dr. Santarvis Brown has over 20 years of experience in the non-profit and education sectors. During his career, he's served as an executive director, middle school classroom teacher, K-12 principal, full professor, Department Chair, and Associate Provost/Chief Academic Officer. He is a Leadership Thought Leader at Cornell University and a Fellow of the Governance Institute for School Accountability. In addition to his commitment to Rdevia, he serves on the Greater Miami Service Corps Board, the Miami Gardens Nuisance Abatement Board, and as Chair of the Minority Freedom Community Fund Board of Trustees.


Dr. Brown is the Pastor of Greater Mt. Pleasant African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, and an HBCU Graduate of Florida Memorial University.


Rdevia is governed by three leadership groups. The Corporation (the Organization's legal governing body of fiduciary stewards, comprised of Trustees), the Grand Parliament (the Organization's founding body, comprised of Peers who preserve heritage and culture), and the Board of Visitors (the Organization's largest governing group comprised of community leaders who provide advisory and support advancement). Dr. Brown will be recognized alongside our other leaders at Dew in the Morning on Saturday, April 1 at the Center for Black Innovation in the Historic City of Overtown, FL.
